This trade fact sheet highlights Tunisia’s international trade, aiming to support the campaign by trade unions to protect and promote labour rights within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Using data from national and international sources, it provides key demographic, macroeconomic, labour market and international trade indicators. Key observation: the majority of Tunisia’s exports and imports were conducted with trading partners outside the African continent. France ranked first among the top five destinations, receiving 35 per cent of the exports in 2023. Imports from Italy totalled US$3.85 billion, accounting for approximately 29 per cent of total imports from the top five sources in 2023. Tunisia’s intra-Africa trade accounted for only 8 per cent of its global trade in 2021.
