This Trade Fact Sheet aims to support the campaign by trade unions in Senegal to protect and promote labour rights within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). It draws on data from national and international sources to highlight key demographic, macroeconomic, labour market and international trade indicators. It highlights the significance of Senegal’s intra-African trade, with Mali as the country’s primary export destination in 2022, accounting for approximately 48 per cent. In contrast, China was Senegal’s main source of import, providing 22.1 per cent of the country’s total imports in 2022.
